Fellow Teacher!
Welcome to the wonderful universe of astronomy teaching! It's sometimes said that astronomy is so exciting that it teaches itself. But that's not true. You will have to call on your full range of professional skills to teach it effectively. Much is known about effective teaching and learning of astronomy, but much of it is hidden away in education research journals, not widely accessible to teachers. We university professors are the worst offenders: few if any of us have had any pre-service or in-service training in teaching!
At this new website you will find astronomy curriculum expectations , tips on how to teach astronomy effectively and a listing of Scince facilities in M.E., But that's not all! You'll also find a large collection of activity ideas, complete unit plans, astronomy newsletters, current astronomical events & news, star charts for observing, information on telescopes, a program tailored to young astronomers...and more!
Explore the site and discover for yourself how much fun learning (and teaching!) astronomy can be. We welcome any suggestions and comments you might have.
